I can’t know how much my life has changed in the last few years.
- At that point, I was toiling full-time in a professional career and settling down to be married to the prefer of my life.
This week, I am happily single and returning to school in an truly new industry. If you’re wondering, I celebrate that separation every single morning. When we were together things weren’t truly as attractive as I thought. It took a lot of therapy for me to realize that. Namely, my ex was severely controlling and abusive. She would emotionally manipulate me through strange means, including the heating and cooling system in our house. If that makes no sense, let me explain how an Heating & A/C system can contribute to domestic abuse. Whenever my ex would become exasperated with me she was delighted to leverage the indoor air quality against me. She had installed a smart control component in our household when we first moved in. At the time, I was gleeful that the smart control component would save us some money on our utility bills and Heating & A/C wear and tear. I truly didn’t enjoy paying high repair bills for the heating and cooling system when it inevitably broke down. I looked forward to monitoring our heating and cooling health through the smart control unit. Instead, my ex used the air quality control device to control me. If she was exasperated with me she would lock the control component so I could not make any Heating & A/C adjustments. I would get trapped in the household with incredibly high uneven temperatures and humidity while she went out and did whatever she wanted. Looking back, I don’t know how I put up with this hot situation for so long. But I prefer having control of my own Heating & A/C system.
